Mud And Star

There was a woman in America whose husband was an army officer. One day, her husband was assigned to a station in a desert area, and she followed him there. However, not long after, her husband was urgently reassigned to another place, leaving her alone in the desert where many Indians and Mexicans lived. She was unable to communicate with them and felt lonely and unhappy every day.
Finally, she wrote a letter to her father explaining her situation. Her father replied with a short story, but did not offer any advice. The story was about prisoners in a jail, where one looked out the window and saw only mud, while another saw only stars.
After reading the story, the woman understood its meaning and decided to learn the Indian language. Her life transformed from negative to positive. Later, she returned home and wrote a book about her experiences, which became very popular.
