At Seventy, Force To Die

In ancient Japan, there was a village surrounded by mountains, for from civilization. The law could not reach that village.
Since there was no law, villagers selected an elder to manage the villagers. That means villager law.
The first law was that due to scarcity of food, every person who reached seventy must die.
The way to die was that the person of seventy must go voluntarily to the top of a mountain full of snow and ice. This would make the person die by hunger and cold.
Some might not like to die willingly. Villagers would carry them by force and throw them down from the top of the mountain.
This villager law was severe. If a person stole food from others, he would he buried alive.
From here we can see that poverty can change the moral of human and create tragic cruelty.
