Blind Man With A Lamp

Once upon a time in China, there was a town near a city. And also a temple was there with an old monk living in the temple. Outside the temple, there was a long street. The monk always took a walk after dinner in the early night. But the street had no light and the monk had to walk under dark. He frequently hit other people who also walked under dark.
But one night, when he had his usually walk, to his surprise, he saw light in the street. He was curiously to find where the light came from. It was from a man who held a lamp in his hand while he walked along the street. The monk approached the man and more to his astonishment, he found the man is a blind person. He stopped the blind man and asked him: “Since you are blind, why you need a lamp.” The man answered: “The lamp is to protect myself. When other people see the light, they will not hit me.”
This short story gives us an idea that when we do something good to ourselves, it also helps others too. But we do not know mostly.
As long as we do not take advantage from others, we are a good man indeed. And maybe we are helping others unknowingly. Remember if you do something good to yourself, it is also helping others indirectly.
