Poem’s Competition

There was a national wide poem’s competition in the programme of China Central Television yesterday. The joiners were mostly young boys and girls, age ranging from ten to fifteen years old. All of them can memorize thousands of Chinese poems of ancient days. We admire those young boys and girls to be so diligent in memorizing so many pomes in competition.
In ancient times, poems and some classic Chinese articles and books were the guidance in examination. The winner could get very high position in government even he had no experience in administering the people.
But poems are somewhat abstract, not practical in our daily life. If a person is too much devoted to study poems, it is not practical to his realities life. We need to work to earn our living, but poems can only give us to enjoy when we are at leisure. Our reality is only to work to keep us alive.
Therefore, poems can be a great helper to our knowledge by which we can apply to use in many ways in our life. But, never study too deep apart from our reality. If we spend too much time on poems, ignoring the reality of our life, we may be a poor man in our life journey.
