Author’s Age

Author is the general name of a writer who writes novels for the public readers to read for pleasure. In China, the person’s name who wrote “The Romance of Three Kingdoms” was Luo Guanzhong and the author who wrote “Dream of the Red Mansions” was Cao Xueqin. We do not know at what age they wrote these two great novels, but we presume that their age might be at fifty or so. Such presumption is based on their habits who drunk wine heavily every day. If they were old their health could not allow them to drink.
In England four hundred years ago, there was a great play-writer, Shakespeare who wrote thirty-seven plays, some of which have been particularly famous, such as Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, reknown to the world up to now. As he died at age of fifty-two, we know that he wrote those plays before fifty or earlier.
In Hong Kong, a well-known writer Jin Yong, stopped his writing at fifty. In China, also a famous writer Eryue He who died at seventy-three and he wrote many famous history novels before his death.
We can see that all the writers were at prime age, no old age writers to write anything for the public so far up to now.
