Where Is the Ghost

Two thousand years ago, our distinguished educationalist Confucius said: “I only talk the life of people, not to talk ghost of any kind.” His words are of course right in every respect that we should pay attention.
But as we are the people, living in common life, we may, for curiosity, wish to know whether the ghost is really in this world. Just to discuss a philosophy with low standard of people in common, we may admit that there is glost in certain kind of circumstance.
In the reality of life, we cannot admit the existence of ghost. It is because that once a person died, he either will be burned to ashes or bury underground. No matter in which way the dead person may face, he or she will become dust finally through a period of many decades. In the Bible, it says that for a dead body: “Dust to dust, soil to soil.”
We, Chinese, mostly have a shadow of ghost in our heart, though in reality we do not think so. But, checking from plays of Shakespeare four hundred years ago, ghosts appeared in the plays of “Hamlet” and “Macbeth”. Two thousand years ago, Christ was born to the earth and at that night all hens crow overnight. At that night ghost did not appear. That is why today we call it: “Silent night, holy night.”
