Churchill Words

Churchill was the Prime Minister of England in the Second World War against Germany and finally won the war. He was one of the greatest politicians at that time. He had profound knowledge and especially his English standard was extremely good. He won the Nobel Prize in the field of literature. Therefore, his words are worthy for us to learn and to analyze.
He said: “The first duty of the university is to teach wisdom, not a trade, character, not technicalities. We want a lot of engineers in the modern world, but we do not want a world of engineers.”
On the contrary, all the people in the world need wisdom so that the world will have peace. But, this requires wisdom, and only by wisdom we know how to live with each other peacefully and impartially.
He further said; “It is a fine thing to be honest, but it is also very important to be right.”
This also told us that honesty is important, but we must use it in a right way, otherwise we shall become a fool. Therefore, silence is the best way to keep our principle of honesty. We do not need to tell others about our own affairs which have nothing to do with them.
