Great philosopher Voltaire said: “You despise books. Your whole life is absorbed in the vanities of ambition, the pursuit of pleasure or indolence, but remember that all the known world, excepting only savage nations, is governed by books.”
In the Western world, politicians always said that civilization is the best foundation of society. Civilization means knowledge and knowledge is from books.
Therefore, we should read more books which are the light house of our life, to guide us what we should do and what not.
In China in the ancient days, King was the head of the government. King would appoint a Prime Minister to administer the country for him. Of course, the Prime minister must be a learned man, with profound knowledge in his heart. Where the knowledge came from, it was from books of various kinds.
Now, we have high institution of university from where we can receive deep knowledge of any kind for use in our life of mankind.
Books are the experience of our ancestors who recorded their experience to guide us to follow their current way and avoid the wrong way which they committed. It shall never be wrong if we can spend more time in reading instead of playing around just for nothing.
