Journey To The West

“Journey To The West” is a novel which is so familiar to all Chinese people, including children. The story described that in Tang Dynasty a monk was assigned by the King to go India to learn Buddhism. He was escorted by a group of body guard who, unrealistically, were humanly animals, one super-monkey, one pig-in-human-shape, one unknown animal, also in human shape. As the journey was long and dangerous, only those super humanly animals could cross the mountains and rivers. But, actually situation was entirely different and those super animals were only a shadow and unreal described by the writer’s own imagination.
The reality was that the monk whose name was monk Tang went on his journey by his own. His companion was a horse only, carrying food and belongings which was necessary in his journey.
He had to pass high mountains and shallow rivers, passing the territory of Tibet and Naples by foot. He slept in the deserted mountain amid the roars of wild animals. Of course, he passed many small villages where he was respected by many villagers for his bravery. From there, he had many volunteers to help him to finish his trip.
He stayed in India for more than ten years in which period he studied the Buddhism so hard that he only slept few hours a day. Finally he went back to his country with super knowledge of Buddhism and became a high rank of monk ever since.
