Own Affairs Keep Secret

Philosopher Kahlil Gibran said in one occasion to his students: “If you reveal your secrets to the wind, you should not blame the wind for revealing them to the trees.”
This is very clear to tell us that we should not tell our personal affairs which we call secrets to any one and ask the listener to keep our secrets. Since we cannot keep our mouth shut to tell our secrets to others, how can we ask others to keep secrets once we have told him. It is we, who is foolish to tell our own secrets to someone and ask the person to keep secrets for us.
Therefore, if, in one occasion, a certain person wishes to tell you his secrets. You must refuse by saying: “Do not tell me your secrets. I am the person who is not accustomed to keep secrets.” Better be a man of loneliness, not to involve in the group of troubles.
We, Chinese, have a slang; “Do not speak ugly family affairs to outsider.” Once it is revealed, it will only give outside people to laugh at us or even to despise at us.
Many people have habits to know other’s affairs, especially those middle-aged ladies who have nothing to do in their daily life and it is their hobby to talk to each other about the affairs of others as an enjoyment in their life.
