Walk Slowly Forward

Abraham Lincoln, President of America two hundred years ago, said that he was a slow walker, but he only went forward, never turned back. In the surface what he said was of no great meaning. If we think deeply, his word indicates a great philosophy behind. This means that whenever we do something or learn something, once we have started, we must keep it continuously, never to give up half way. As long as we set a purpose of any goal, we just go ahead toward the goal even we will meet tremendous difficulty on our journey. By persistence, we will surely one day reach our goal.
We, Chinese, also have a proverb: “A thousand miles journey starts from the first step.” As long as we start our first step to go forward, one day we shall reach the goal thousand miles away.
“Walk slowly forward” actually means “progress” No matter what we do, if we depend upon our spirit of progress, surely anything we aim at will be achieved, but never to be stopped half-way.
Do not be too hurry to go fast. Fast speed will make you difficult to go a long journey. As we read from a tale that one day a turtle and a rabbit agreed to have a competition form one point to another point far away and looked who was the first to arrive. The turtle creeped slowly forward, but never stopped. The rabbit ran fast, but taking a nap on the way. Finally turtle was the winner.
For our life, we must live our life to walk forward slowly. To set the goal of our life ahead of us and with persistence, we will surely achieve our aim one day.
