Wu Zetian is the only woman king in Chinese history. In ancient days, woman is inferior than man, especially in the political field. But, Wu Zetain could emerge from an ordinary lady into a position of throne. She was a remarkable person in the Chinese history of few thousand years.
Wu was a distinguished woman king for fifty years. In the beginning, she managed on behalf of Tang Dynasty with great success. Later, she took the power from king of Tang Dynasty and established her own dynasty under the name of Zhou. Zhou Dynasty lasted up to the time of her death.
Of course, history opportunity gave her chance to be in kingship, but her excellent talent to handle political affairs supported her kingship.
Wu was a daughter of a merchant, selected to the palace as a maid who later became a concubine of the king. Slowly, by her wisdom king’s power slipped into her hands, and finally she became a woman king.
She was a good king, knowing how to select good persons to be her assistants to manage her country which, at that time, was peaceful and prosperous.
She died at eighty four, having managed her country for fifty years. Her dynasty disappeared after her death.
