Hangzhou is the capital of Zhejiang province, and it is known to the world because of the famous scenery of West Lake. Shanxoing is one city of Zhejiang province, not so famous to the world tourist, but actually it is very well known to Chinese people. Shaoxing, whether in the past history or in the modern time, has acted many great tales either in the political or in the scenery field.
Shaoxing is a city of old history. Even four thousand years ago, a Prime Minster, called Yu the Great, came to Shaoxing to build a water system which has been very mysterious up to now. That is why today Shaoxing has ample water supply, but cannot find out where the water comes from.
As regarding the political history, it has been very famous about the story of a girl Xi Shi, who was sent to the enemy king for service of her country. Finally the enemy king was killed and she came back home as a hero. But, unfortunately, Xi Shi was killed by the Queen of her own country by the jealousy of her beauty from the Queen.
Shaoxing had many famous people in the past and recent century, Wang Xizhi was a great writer in Chinese character. Lu Xun was a famous author, almost known to the world. Qiu Jin was a female revolutionist who sacrificed her life in her revolution career.
